In 2009 the Christ Lutheran Church Congregation decided it was time to upgrade their mid-efficient water boiler system to something that was more energy efficient, environmentally friendly, with the aim of lowering their overall operating costs. The existing system consisted of two copper fin tube boilers that were heating convector baseboard, fan coils and one copper fin tube boiler that was
strictly dedicated to domestic hot water.
The congregation decided to go with Viessmann Manufacturing company for their new boiler .The challenge was to come up with a heating design that was efficient, but also effective in our climate, and had a good return on investment. MacPHERSON engineering was contacted to do a heat-loss and mechanical layout of the new boiler plant. It was proposed to install a new Condensing boiler, Viessmann proposed a Vitocrossal CT3-28 with a Wieshaupt fully modulating gas burner.
The Christ Lutheran Church was able to decrease their gas consumption by 47% ( see independent analysis on back page for more detailed information ). This project allowed the congregation to obtain their goals to improve their energy efficiency and lower operating costs.
